The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a joint venture of Rio Tinto (58.7 per cent), Mitsubishi (26.2 per cent) and the Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Income Fund (15.1 per cent). The Opportunity

We are looking to build a pool of Operators and Maintainers to fill different positions which are residentially based at Labrador City. You will be working in a 12 hour rotating shift of days and nights.

What the role entails

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will be responsible for:

• Working safely through appropriate behaviours and adherence to IOC safety standards
• Keeping the work area safe, clean and well maintained and taking timely action to rectify unsafe working conditions in the work area
• Taking care of the proper operation, maintenance and control of equipment to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently
• Providing feedback to team leaders regarding equipment performance
• Communicating all unresolved safety and process deficiencies to the team leaders involved
• Maintaining a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues and problems identified in the work area

What you will need for this role 

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• A certification in Heavy Equipment Operator Course or minimum 5 years of experience working on Haul Trucks or Heavy Equipment
• Mining Technician program completed (preferred)
• Prior experience as an Operator in mining or industrial environment (preferred)
