Deputy Director, Chatham House
Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs, is one of the world’s leading international affairs institutes. An independent policy institute, it is well-known for its rigorous analysis of global, regional and country-specific challenges, and the new ideas it develops on how to address them. Its experts work closely with policy-makers and opinion-formers worldwide, furthering the institute’s mission to help build a sustainably secure, prosperous and just world.
After a period of significant growth, the institute is now seeking a Deputy Director: a new role within the organisation. The Deputy Director will oversee and co-ordinate the institute’s multiple areas of research and work closely with the Director and Research Directors to ensure the delivery of a wide range of high-quality and influential research outputs. The Deputy Director will also play a key role in coordinating the institute’s relationships with its major research funders and nurturing potential new research areas. They will deputise for the Director, Dr Robin Niblett, both internally and with relevant external audiences.
Candidates will demonstrate a collegiate and proactive approach and possess excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. They will have senior experience in a relevant environment and a strong reputation in an area relevant to Chatham House’s research. They will have the leadership and strategic skills to make a significant contribution to the institute’s ongoing development.
