Key responsibilities:
The Head of Programs for the Andean Region is responsible for leading the planning, development and management of Cuso International LAC’s programs and operations in Andean countries. The Head of Programs also contributes to raising the profile of Cuso International in this geographic area, networking with key individuals, organizations and institutions and ensuring Cuso International is contributing to relevant policies, debates on best development practice (advocacy), and be proactive in identifying and pursuing opportunities for the program’s growth including potential partnerships, funding and events of interest.
Summary of essential qualifications:
  • University Degree in a relevant field and/or a solid combination of relevant studies and experience.
  • Bilingualism, English and Spanish
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful track record of managing development projects at the community level.
  • Proven commitment to mainstreaming Gender and equality issues within work and ability to coach and menton staff in this aspect of performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a Leadership role, responsible for supervising and coaching specialized and experienced staff and leading a team towards common objectives.
  • Proven track record of securing substantial external funding for development programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the challenges of donor and contract management, as well as the implications for Program management.
  • Understanding and support for the role and impact of international volunteering as a contribution to International Development.
  • Good public speaking abilities, presentation skills and capable of persuading others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, coach, mobilize and develop positive relationships with colleagues in different teams and/or positions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, within the Andean Region, to Costa Rica and internationally
