Internship Education Programming

For our office in Amsterdam we have the following opportunity:

Internship - Education Programming
4 or 5 days a week for a period of 6 months from March 2012

This internship presents an exciting learning opportunity for the successful candidate to work within the Programme Support Department at War Child Holland, to network with partner organisations and liaise with War Child colleagues around the world. The intern will assist the Education Adviser and other colleagues within the programmes department with various projects that will further the promotion and realization of good quality education for children and young people affected by conflict.

Responsibilities
  • Provide significant levels of support to further develop two ICT-education projects which are in the pilot phase
  • Write promotional articles, deliver presentations, effectively utilize social media and engage in online discussions to both gain input and showcase our work
  • Liaise with partner organisations (NGOs, Universities, and Business)
  • Support our work in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET)
  • Support our work in the field of Primary Education (formal and non-formal)
  • Additional tasks which may be requested e.g. attending meetings and writing minutes, support fundraising applications, preparing reports and any other reasonable task

Requirements
  • Graduate (or soon to be graduate) in a relevant field (e.g. education, cultural anthropology, international development, child rights)
  • Experience working with children (teaching, summer-camp leader/staff, etc)
  • Good analytical, research and writing skills: the ability to analyse documents, draft reports and write for a variety of audiences
  • Good persuasion and advocacy skills – the ability to sell an idea using a variety of media to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Good command of English-language, both spoken and written (all work will require writing in English)
  • Self-motivated independent worker with the ability to follow direction and effectively learn
  • Good team working skills with confidence to liaise with colleagues across the organisation

All travel expenses, lunch, coffee/tea, computer access are covered/provided by War Child. However, no additional remuneration is provided.
