Secretary (Research)

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy at its Secretariat in Vienna, Austria, for a Secretary (Research) within the Data Services Department, who provides secretarial and administrative support to the Statistics Group.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the filing/documentation system of the Statistics Group, including registration and circulation of data sources and publications to the staff of the Group
  • Assists the staff in editing and formatting correspondence and reports, as well as in completing various administrative forms
  • Disseminates various regular data reports, in particular the Daily Basket Prices (SMS and e-mail), various weekly data to the Member Countries (e-mail and fax) and quarterly Energy & Oil Statistics (printed and CD version)
  • Prepares correspondence to various developing countries, requesting direct data related to production/consumption and reserves, including the update and maintenance of the contact persons/offices in those countries
  • Assists the Coordinator of the Group in recording various data requests and in monitoring the follow-up by concerned staff
  • Updates the statistics database, among others, in retrieving daily exchange rates from different sources

Requirements:

  • Secondary School certificate plus special courses
  • Three years of work experience
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

Skills and Knowledge:

  • MS Office
  • Typing

Offer:

Commensurate remuneration package (i.e. monthly basic salary of € 2,681 x 12 per year) with tax-free benefits and six weeks annual leave.
