Associate - Technical Assistance EveryChild London

EveryChild is an international development charity working to stop children growing up vulnerable and alone. We work to keep families together, keep vulnerable children safe, and get children back with a safe and caring family.

Our ambition is to create a global movement to stop children growing up without parental care. We are expanding from a UK-based charity working in 15 countries with vulnerable children and their families to forming and becoming a member of an international network of children’s organisations with a reach into more than 24 countries by 2014.

We are embarking on an exciting new area of work looking to develop a Technical Assistance Unit that will provide tailored expertise to key actors (such as the European Commission, World Bank and UNICEF) to influence institutional reform, support effective national child protection systems, and complete similarly relevant assignments. Guided by market research and clear business plan, the unit will provide a source of unrestricted income for the Alliance, and ultimately be self-financing.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to maximise opportunities for an innovative and specialist technical assistance unit focused on delivering better outcomes for children without, or at risk of losing, parental care.

Acting as a technical expert in the areas of global child protection systems and policy this post will manage a portfolio of consultants to ensure high quality work is delivered, identify tendering opportunities and contribute to the development of an appropriate strategy to push the Technical Assistance Unit forward.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of global child protection systems and policy as well as experience in writing proposals, managing consultants and delivering technical assistance to multi- and bi-lateral organisations, and research institutes for social development.

In addition the successful candidate will have:

• Excellent ability to influence through clear written and verbal communication skills
• Strong project management and distance management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with both clients and colleagues
