It is with this background that Water For People—Rwanda is seeking to recruit a Finance and Administration Assistant who will support the existing team in their effort towards achieving set objectives.



Scope of Responsibilities:

The Finance and Admin Assistant will contribute to the necessary activities for the development, implementation, and operation of Water For People’s program in Rwanda. S/he will be responsible for the program’s accounting and some of the staffing activities, and contribute to office administrative tasks. As necessary, s/he may provide technical support to partners of Water For People—Rwanda as may be needed. S/he will be reporting to the Finance Administrator.

Specific Duties:

Procurement of goods and services needed by the Organization and make sure that adequate procurement procedures are followed.
Pay bills (cash or checks), and ensure that they are unquestionably supported by vouchers, invoices, or cash receipts from vendors. Conduct bank reconciliation activities, daily bookkeeping, and related administrative tasks.
Manage Water For People Rwanda’s petty cash in accordance with the organization’s procedures Manual.
Maintain the accounting system of Water for People–Rwanda’s office, consistent with financial regulations rules, policies and procedures.

Conduct monthly financial reconciliation, and prepare routine financial reports as needed.
Prepare monthly payroll and ensure that all deductions such as personal taxes, National Social Security Fund of Rwanda, medical insurance are paid within permissible time.



Assist partners of Water For People—Rwanda, as needed.
Analyze financial reports from partner organizations, as needed.
Control over Water For People vehicles
Ensure that medical insurance, vehicle and office insurance are timely paid
Contribute to other accounting or administrative tasks, as deemed necessary.
Immediately report to the Finance Administrator and/or Country Director any deviations or irregularities that could arise.



Job Specifics:

Water For People–Rwanda’s office is located in Kicukiro (sonatubes-Rwandex Road) boulevard de l’OUA, in the Kicukiro District, in the City of Kigali. The Finance and Admin Assistant will be based in this Kicukiro office. Minimum work may also have to be performed at the offices of Water For People—Rwanda’s partners, as needed.
The normal working week is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00.
The contract between Water For People—Rwanda and the Finance and Admin Assistant will be for one (1) renewable, with a probation period of three (3) months.
Water For People–Rwanda will be responsible for the employer’s portion of contribution to the Social Security Fund of Rwanda and, in accordance with Rwandan government laws. Water For People–Rwanda also provides medical insurance to its full-time staff. It is expected that the Finance and Admin Assistant will comply with applicable in-country rules and regulations, e.g., Pay As You Earn, her/his contribution to the Social Security Fund of Rwanda, and others as stated in Rwandan laws and regulations.
It is expected that the Finance and Admin Assistant will obey Water For People–Rwanda’s policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (accounting or Finance option), with at least five (5) years of experience.
At least two years’ experience working in Rwanda.

· Computer experience, knowledge of at least one accounting system and ability to access e-mails and internet services.

Common sense to make judgments about a situation requiring deviations from routine tasks.
Self-starter and ability to undertake tasks without intensive supervision.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and Kinyarwanda.
