For the Lecturer level: we are inviting applications from people who hold or are near completion of a PhD in Accountancy, and evidence of progress in the area of research.

For the Senior Lecturer level: we are seeking suitably qualified candidates with a capacity to contribute toward the teaching, research and administrative activities of the School as a senior staff member. You will possess a Doctoral degree in Accountancy and have an active and established record in research.

Position Overview

LECTURER
The successful candidate:
- possess or near completed a Doctoral degree in accounting
- will have evidence of progress in the area of research.
- would be asked to teach accountancy papers.

SENIOR LECTURER
Research may be conducted in any area of specialist interest within the field of accounting although the appointee may also be required to engage in research activity that is of particular significance to the School of Accountancy and the College of Business.

The appointee will be required to assist in mentoring and motivating other staff (particularly junior staff in teaching and research activities), and will also be required to teach and co-ordinate papers accountancy papers.

The successful candidate will:
- possess a Doctoral degree and an appropriate record of research and publications in one or more of the core disciplinary areas of the School.
- be expected to provide leadership in research by conducting, and participating in research activities leading to scholarly publications, and by attracting internal/external funding.
- have demonstrated evidence of quality teaching and research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Purpose statement

To enhance the learning and qualification outcomes of Massey's students and the scholarly ouputs of the University by undertaking an effective programme of teaching; undertaking research including research supervision of students; engaging in the pursuit of external funding; providing administrative and professional service to the University and broader academic or professional communities.

Key accountabilities

Teaching/Supervision

1. Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
2. Develop and teach major curriculum components of courses.
3. Coordinate and administer the teaching of subjects.
4. Supervise the research activities of graduate and undergraduate students and assist in the supervision of students/ research projects at a postgraduate level.
5. Undertake continuing personal professional development.

Research

1. Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme or participate in team-based research.
2. Publish papers or other scholarly works in academic journals and review papers.
3. Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences.
4. Generate research funding.

Service to the Community

1. Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field and which are consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan.
2. Assist the School to develop an environment which gives effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi.

University Responsibilities

1. Serve on University and/or School committees.
2. Ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, research, community service and administrative practices.
3. Contribute to the development of a School working environment of teamwork and cooperation.
