Light Vehicle Supervisor Australia Sunrise Dam

AngloGold Ashanti Limited (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents and a highly successful exploration program. In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in WA and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine, also in WA, in which it has a 70% interest and is manager. Independence Group holds the remaining 30%. Tropicana, which represents the most significant Australian gold discovery for the last decade, is scheduled to begin production in the December quarter of 2013.

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 600 people and produces approximately 350,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking an experienced Light Vehicle Supervisor to join our Maintenance team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is accountable for the supervision of the Light Vehicle Maintenance Department and Engineering standards, the planning and control of light vehicle and associated mobile plant to ensure optimum utilisation.

The main tasks of the role include:

• Ensuring that all activities are effective through cross functional liaison and team work at all levels within the light vehicle department, in accordance with professional standards established by the Maintenance Manager
• Monitor procedures and suggest procedural changes or improvements to subordinates to assist in developing work practises and methods that reduce risk of injury, decrease costs and/or improve productivity. Effect those changes in writing of new, or change existing written procedures
• Actively review systems and procedures regularly within your area to maximise effectiveness and efficiency within the company.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A qualification, Higher National Diploma or above in Vehicle Engineering
• Experienced in light vehicle/mobile plant supervision
• The person will have demonstrated competence in the maintenance management of a large and varied light vehicle fleet workshop
• The person will be a self starter and have a dedicated commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
• Sound communication skills both written and verbal
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to people at all levels are also required.
