Description


The Rule of Law Initiative seeks a Washington, DC-based Program Officer to assist in the development, implementation and coordination of rule of law programs in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The Program Officer reports to the Latin America and Caribbean Division Director in Washington, DC and works closely with U.S.-based staff as well as in-country directors, overseas pro bono attorneys, local personnel, donors, and partners.

The Program Officer’s duties include: grant monitoring and management, grant proposal writing, assisting in implementation of work plans, report writing, and organizing program events such as workshops and training programs. The Program Officer may travel to the field as needed.

Qualifications


Requirements: Undergraduate degree plus either a Master’s degree or 2 years of relevant work experience in addition to strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as are knowledge of the Latin America and Caribbean region and background in international and cross-cultural relations. Knowledge of or previous experience with legal reform and/or funded international development programs is a plus. Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred, and proficiency in Portuguese would be an additional asset.
