Senior Legal Adviser, Global Legal Policy IFPI

We have a position vacant for Senior Legal Adviser - Global Legal Policy, within a team that develops and co-ordinates IFPI's policy positions and handles legislative and government relations matters for the industry.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Working on the development, presentation and implementation of IFPI positions on legislation, treaties and general legal policy issues
  • Interacting with policy makers at national and international level, through drafting and commenting on legislation, treaties and related documents, providing information to governments, and communicating the importance of copyright.
  • Assisting IFPI regional offices, affiliated national associations and record companies, and coordinating with associations in other sectors, to promote IFPI legal policy positions and handle legislative matters.
  • Working closely with IFPI litigation and legal affairs, anti-piracy, and licensing teams.
The successful candidate must:
  • be a qualified lawyer in either the UK or another jurisdiction, with post qualified experience of at least five years
  • have a thorough knowledge of copyright law, preferably in more than one jurisdiction
  • be able to synthesize large amounts of data, and to extract and present the essential elements quickly and clearly
  • have excellent written and oral command of English and excellent writing skills
Candidates with experience in government relations or legislative matters will be strongly preferred, and fluency in at least one other major language (Spanish, French, German) is an advantage.
