Technical Support Manager - Urban

Salary: Starting from £42,795
Contract: 11 months fixed - term contract with the possibility of an extension

The Technical Support Unit (TSU) provides technical leadership and support throughout the organisation through: a) the preparation strategic frameworks and guidance documentation and the development of knowledge management at a strategic level; b) capacity development and c) focused research and development.

The TSU is seeking a Technical Support Manager - Urban (TSM), who will provide leadership in the design and development of normative frameworks, country level urban strategies and guidelines for WaterAid's Urban WASH work, and to ensure that such guidance is fully observed in practice.

The individual occupying this position will initiate and manage programmes of monitoring, review and evaluation, research, capacity development and documentation carried out by teams drawn from within WaterAid, and involving external consultants and advisers. The TSM will work closely with Regional Teams (especially the Regional Technical Advisers), WaterAid Members, other London-based Departments and Teams and Country Programmes. The role will also involve a wider influencing purpose relating to Urban WASH practice and policy beyond WaterAid, in the countries where we work, and globally.

The successful candidate will require sound knowledge and extensive international experience of Urban WASH together with a relevant post-graduate qualification. You will be a leader, self-starter and team player with excellent communications and management skills. The candidate should have the ability and willingness to spend up to 25% of their time travelling and the ability to speak either French or Portuguese would be an added advantage.
