The job holder is responsible for providing economic information in research format to support the role of Dubai Chamber in this area.
Job Purpose
- Conduct research on economic and business topics as determined by the inputs from Dubai business community, the business groups and councils, the Board of Directors the Chamber, the Chamber’s departments and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Data Management Centre in order to carry out effective analysis of the data obtained for subject/topic under review.
- Prepare studies, reports and statistics, in line with the guidelines provided by senior researchers. Assist in the process of preparation of special studies.
- Participate in joint research activities in conjunction with other research/economic institutions and carry out assigned research tasks effectively.
- Source data and information from the Data Management Centre and various media and sources and maintain a systematic catalogue of sources referred to.
- Utilise latest tools and techniques recommended for research and remain abreast of developments in the field of business and economic research.
- Publish research results in recognized international and regional journals and participate in conferences.
Expert knowledge in the following fields:
- Micro, and macroeconomic analysis;
- sectoral, industry and market analysis;
- trade and investment analysis;
- Policy analysis and advice;
- Leading seminars and roundtable discussions;
- Understanding and articulating issues facing businesses
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience in an economic and business research institution.
- Masters Degree in Economics or relevant business studies from a recognized university.
- Track record of research reports and published journal articles.
- Understanding of micro, meso and macro economic issues.
- Capability of writing elaborated and sophisticated research reports as well as concise and simple articles.
- Familiarity with research techniques and data management techniques.
- Previous experience of managing research projects.
- Proficiency in English
- Proficiency in Statistical/mathematical softwares, MS Office, Typing, and Internet use.
