Terrafina Microfinance Administrative Officer (m/f)


Terrafina Microfinance is a joint microfinance program for Africa, set up by ICCO, Oikocredit and the Rabobank Foundation. Terrafina provides support to local rural microfinance institutions (MFIs) as well as networks and focuses on three rural areas in Africa: West Africa (Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal), and Eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi).
We are looking for a:
Administrative Officer (m/f)
±18 hours per week
for a period of four to six months, (illness replacement)
About the team
The Terrafina program is executed by a small specialized team of 14 persons, headed by a fund manager, and supervised by a tripartite Board of Governors. The program has 65 microfinance partners in six countries (anglophone and francophone). These microfinance partners are supported with capacity building support, both technical and financial, to help them professionalize. Terrafina recently finalized its process of decentralization, in order to operate closer to the microfinance partners and closer to the field offices of our consortium partners Oikocredit and ICCO. Terrafina operates in a diverse network of microfinance practitioners, governments and policy makers, donors & investors and consultants, which makes the work challenging and interesting.
About the position
The administrative officer (AO) supports administrative and financial processes. You make sure that partners and colleagues deliver administrative information in time. You keep the accounting up to date following the administrative and financial procedures and processes. You prepare payments and revise program budgets. Invoices are controlled by you and you make sure that they are approved and properly booked. You verify liquidity and budget availability and indicate deviations. According to information needs of the team, you produce financial overviews.
The administrative Officer functionally reports to the Administrative Coordinator and hierarchically to the Fund Manager. In your daily work you team up with the Administrative Coordinator.
Our requirements
  • Background in financial administration  (MBO+/HBO)
  • Minimal 2 years of relevant experience
  • Pro-active attitude to obtain information
  • Ability to work  in international/ intercultural environment
  • Analytical mindset
  • Hands-on mentality, eye for the detail;
  • Communicative and social skills, team worker, flexibility
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • English + Dutch (French is an asset), versatile with MS-Excel
