BBC Sports News is looking for an Assistant Editor to help manage and lead the Multiplatform Sportsgathering unit at MediaCity in Salford Quays.
Sports News is the part of BBC Sport that provides the daily sports journalism and news stories for the whole of the BBC. The Sportsgathering team are the correspondents, reporters and producers who generate multiplatform content for TV, radio and online teams, providing filmed and recorded material from the field for all BBC News and Sport outlets.  

Role

 
Managing the Sportsgathering team you will take responsibility to identify and drive breaking stories and ensure accurate, impartial and comprehensive sports news coverage across sports news output. You will play a key role in managing sports news teams on a daily basis with a particular emphasis on the Sportsgathering unit whilst working closely with the News and Sport output editors to ensure that TV and radio bulletin services are supplied with content that they and their audiences need.

Requirements

 
As part of the Sports News editorial and management team you will have a strong track record of delivering high quality news programme content and possess a passion for sports news. In a 24/7 sports news environment you will make prompt and well informed editorial decisions and have demonstrable experience of working in a newsroom environment. With previous team leader experience, you will be a flexible and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisation skills.
