The Portfolio Office (PO) is key for successful delivery of the World Service’s portfolio of programmes and projects; a portfolio that embraces the breadth of World Service TV, radio and online operations, including technology,  infrastructure, offices , digital and innovation. Our overall objective is to achieve effective and efficient portfolio/ programme/ project management (P3M) and delivery.

Role

As the Portfolio Assurance and Support Manager you’ll assure programme and project delivery through effective management of the portfolio reporting processes and insightful analysis. You’ll maintain and enhance existing portfolio, programme and control frameworks, joining up approaches with the wider BBC delivery community. Acting as an agent of change throughout the organisation, you’ll support efficient and effective delivery of the WS programme/project portfolio and facilitate performance improvement. In addition you’ll provide expert input and support to specific programmes & projects. You’ll be hands-on in this role and will deputise for the WS PO Manager when needed.   Attachment/fixed term contract to 31 March 2014.

Requirements

We need your significant experience of being responsible for successfully developing, implementing and assuring a variety of programme and project control frameworks in a number of situations, using various approaches. You’ll have successfully fulfilled significant control and delivery assurance responsibilities working on a variety of large complex programmes. You’ll have significant experience of having managed substantial projects (including budget responsibility), with evidence of strong delivery performance and “getting the job” done. Strong IT software skills are required including: use and tailoring of portfolio and/or project management software tools; strong Excel and MS-Project, and the ability to learn other software quickly and use efficiently.
