Processing Plant Technician AngloGold Ashanti (AGA)

AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents.   AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%.  The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 600 people and produces approximately 350,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Processing Plant Technician to join the Processing team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. The role will be site based on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.

Accountable to the Senior Production Coordinator, this role is responsible for safely operating the processing plant, and its associated facilities, at their most efficient, productive and cost effective level. The Process Technician will be an active member of the Processing Team by contributing to the development of operating practices and providing input to the optimisation of the Processing Department.

The main tasks of the role include:

• To operate the process plant at its most efficient level in accordance with specified standard operating practices. Operation will involve managing plant throughput, gold recovery and resource usage through effective communication, troubleshooting and problem solving
• To liaise closely with metallurgical and maintenance personnel on safety, plant performance and technical issues with the aim of optimising plant performance, increasing ease of operation and eliminating existing and potential problems
• Carry out routine performance monitoring duties such as sampling, sample analysis, inspection, log keeping and data analysis
• Closely monitor equipment performance to ensure the timely identification of malfunction and loss of performance. Report such conditions to maintenance and metallurgical personnel and assist in repair and troubleshooting appropriate to the level of training received
• Carry out ancillary duties including, amongst others, reagent preparation, instrument calibration and plant housekeeping

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Previous experience in a mineral processing plant (gold preferred)
• A strong attention to detail
• Mechanically minded
• Strong work ethic
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Current WA Drivers Licence
• The ability to work permanently in Australia
