RSSB Senior Intelligence Analyst


RSSB works closely with businesses across the whole of the rail sector and delivers a range of programmes to support and improve the rail industry against recognised business needs. Based in London and employing approximately 300 people, RSSB operates a wide range of research and development activities and is a source of information concerning railway operations, technical matters and related activities across the UK and elsewhere.
The role of the Senior Intelligence Analyst provides a lead in understanding the national and international research environment, applying state of the art intelligence to the benefit of railway innovation and in optimising the use of R&D funding.
Key activities include:
  • Informing industry understanding on current knowledge and potential future trends in various subject areas
  • Manage a direct team of experienced and graduate level analysts
  • Identify knowledge/technology gaps and transfer opportunities, and communicate them to stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain relationships with sources of intelligence in other industries and countries
  • Keep a full view of the R&D portfolio and related initiatives
  • Ensure the provision of efficient and effective analytical services to research delivery teams working across a wide range of disciplines
Reporting to the Head of Programme Strategy and Analysis, the role makes a key contribution to the success and efficiency of a wide range of projects and services.
Candidates should be graduates holding scientific or numerate degrees and sound experience in gathering, structuring, analysing and presenting qualitative and quantitative intelligence with a strong interest in technological developments. Experience and knowledge of cost benefit analysis techniques and the ability to produce targeted, concise written executive summaries are also required.
Knowledge of the UK rail or wider transport industry is not particularly required but may be beneficial as would experience in research analysis/management and simulation techniques.
