Department

The Russian Service is one of the largest language services in the BBC World Service. It has a 24/7 multiplatform website, which includes a large amount of audio and visual content. Its staff is located in London and Moscow, and a large part of the output is from the Moscow bureau. Our output is extremely varied and aims to make international news relevant to a Russian audience, and bring international perspectives to bear on Russian and FSU developments. The video unit is an integral part of BBC Russian Service and we are firmly committed to a significant video offer.

Role

Leading a team of multiplatform journalists producing video content for bbcrussian.com, you’ll ensure the site is dynamic, engages users and establishes bbcrussian.com as a ground-breaking interactive site amongst our competition. You’ll ensure that the output confirms to the highest editorial and production standards and is lively and interesting and of relevance to the target area. You’ll also work closely with colleagues in Moscow and the team in London to ensure a seamless transition between teams, to contribute to the planned coverage of upcoming stories and to ensure 360 degree commissioning.

Requirements

You'll have proven experience in working in an online production environment with comprehensive knowledge of writing and editing content on the web. Sound editorial and community judgement with thorough understanding of the main production methods and technology of online production and familiarity with radio production techniques are vital. Alongside this, you'll have excellent comprehension of written and spoken Russian (first or equivalent) and English.
