If this sounds like you, then we’d like to hear from you. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and talented Test Lead to join our Test Group in Future Media‘s Programmes & On Demand, (POD), department at the BBC.

POD’s mission is to bring fantastic BBC content to more and more people, in innovative, creative and accessible ways. Our products, including iPlayer, already rank among the most popular in the UK and we see huge potential for creativity and growth in the future. We strive to transform and enhance the way media is consumed online and create experiences for our audiences that weren’t possible in a traditional broadcast environment

Role

As Test Lead you’ll ensure that product teams you work with have test approaches that deliver products as defect-free as possible. You’ll manage teams of testers and work with developers and product managers to implement these approaches. You’ll also work with the Test Leads’ team to ensure we have a joined up POD-wide test strategy. You will have solid experience in testing online products, test automation, leading innovation in test and a strong technical background.

Requirements

Essential:
• A passion for technology.
• Experience of design and implementing testing approaches for complex end-to-end systems.
• Able to demonstrate problem solving in a technical environment, and to communicate technical concepts simply and plainly.
• Experience of de-bugging tools and analysing stack traces,
• Working knowledge of SVN or a similar VCS tool.
• A good understanding of web technologies, and exposure to RESTful web architectures.
• Experience in a high level programming language such as Ruby, Java or Perl.
• The ability and experience of communicating effectively across all levels of the organisation, and doing so in a proactive fashion, using diplomacy where required.


Desirable:
• Experience of working with an automated test framework (preferably Cucumber).
• Experience of working in an Agile development environment
• Experience of working with digital media technologies.
• Understanding of Behaviour Driven Development/Test Driven Development
• A strong interest in BBC’s online output.
• Evidence of an imaginative and effective approach to testing the 'un-testable'.
