Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is an international, non-governmental, independent, non-political, non-religious UK-registered Charity that was established in 1984. We work for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. With an annual turnover of between £2.5 and £3m, MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, primarily in occupied Palestine and in Lebanon. We have 22 members of staff working across four main offices in London, Ramallah, Gaza City and Beirut.

Robin Kealy, the current Chair of the Board of Trustees, is retiring in November 2013 after nine years as a Trustee and five as the Chairman, and we are now recruiting for his replacement.

As a Trustee and a Director of the charity, the Chair will fulfil all the duties, obligations and responsibilities of a Trustee/ Director in line with Charity Commission guidance, the relevant Charities Acts, and the Companies Act. In addition to this, the Chair provides leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees, enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of MAP. The Chair also works closely with the CEO helping him/her to achieve the aims of MAP; and to optimise the relationship between the board of Trustees and the staff.
