For more than 70 years, Oxfam has been working tirelessly to overcome poverty and injustice. We’ve provided humanitarian aid in the wake of devastating disasters, invested worldwide in development programmes and campaigned and lobbied governments and organisations for change. As Campaigns and Policy Director, you’ll lead, grow and strengthen our campaigning and advocacy work both in the UK and globally.
The role
You’ll be responsible for delivering the strategy that delivers maximum impact from our work in the fight against poverty. That means providing clear direction and strong leadership of a large and diverse team, in delivering work that is well researched, evidence-based and which strategically supports programme development. It also means working collaboratively, particularly with Oxfam International affiliates, and alliance building with social movements and institutions across the globe to influence policy, practice, attitudes and beliefs to benefit the poorest in society. You will also represent Oxfam at the highest levels with political and world leaders and key decision makers. And, as a Deputy Director of Oxfam GB, you’ll be a key advisor to the Chief Executive, as well as contributing to the corporate management of the organisation.
What we’re looking for
A challenge of this size and breadth demands an exceptional set of skills and experience. First and foremost you’ll need an indepth knowledge and experience of public campaigning, advocacy and lobbying, together with excellent communication and influencing skills. You’ll have the intellectual and analytical ability needed to provide strategic and thought leadership to Oxfam and the Campaigns & Policy Division, whilst ensuring that delivery continues to be innovative, leading-edge and enhances Oxfam’s reputation. An inspirational leader with strong people management skills, you’re able to work collaboratively and build the strong relationships required to be successful. Proven senior management experience in a complex and diverse organisation is essential, together with a passion and drive to overcome poverty and suffering.
