Policy Advisor , Milieu Ltd

Milieu Ltd is a dynamic consulting firm based in Brussels striving for excellence in international and European policy and law – primarily with respect to environmental protection but also in such fields as fundamental rights, public health, consumer protection and health and safety. We provide our expertise mainly for European institutions and other public sector clients. 

We are seeking to complement our policy team with a policy advisor with a background and expertise in environmental policy and/or climate change, with particular emphasis on the economic and social aspects of EU climate change policy.

Key tasks will include the following:

• Research and development of analytical reports on European policy topics according to area of expertise and interest;
• Manage diverse project teams;
• Manage projects to budget while ensuring that deadline and quality objectives are met;
• Support for business development, including development and drafting of proposals;
• Liaison and meeting with clients to review and report project progress;
• Contribute towards the strategic vision of the business.

Key qualifications for the position:

• Master’s degree or higher in environmental protection/policy, economics, social sciences or other relevant discipline;
• Minimum 5 years prior work experience including project management, proposal development, research and analysis;
• Background and experience in European public policy analysis;
• Clear, concise and accurate writing skills in English, including the ability to review and edit the work of others;
• An independent, self-starter personality;
• Willingness and enthusiasm to work on a wide range of policy issues.

Desirable:

• Experience working for or with EU institutions;
• In-depth knowledge of environmental policies including climate change is desirable;
• Experience working with EU funds including Cohesion Policy, rural development policy and other financial instruments desirable;
• Knowledge of other EU languages in addition to English.
