The Organisation and the Role

We work with private and public sector clients on assignments lasting from a few days to several years. Our work is usually financed by international development agencies.
Landell Mills leads two EU Framework Contracts (FWC): Lot 1 – Rural Development; and Lot 12 – Humanitarian aid, Crisis management & Post-Crisis Assistance.
Landell Mills is a member also of two other EU FWC consortia: Lot 10 - Trade Standards and Private Sector; and Lot 11 - Macro Economy, Statistics and Public Financial Management.
The FWC is a facility that enables the EU to mobilise expertise quickly for short to medium-term development consulting assignments around the world.
The Candidate
In anticipation of the award of a number of EU Framework Contracts (sectors as above plus Lot 6 - Environment), Landell Mills is seeking to recruit a full-time Project Executive.
The Project Executive will report to the SED Manager.
The tasks to be delivered will be as follows (non-exhaustive):
  • Managing specific requests within one or more of the above Lots, which will include liaising with consortium partners on each request (including updating information on an intranet site), and responding to the Client with complete offers;
  • Sourcing experts (using the company database, the internet, networking, headhunting...etc) for assignments for the above Lots;
  • Helping to evaluate CVs for the consortium as a whole for Lots where Landell Mills is the leader;
  • Negotiating competitive budgets for each FWC assignment and preparing  the financial offer;
  • Managing the implementation of projects that are not implemented by other (geographical) divisions. This will include organising logistics (flights, visas, contracts) for projects, as well as the finances (invoicing...etc), budget control, implementation follow-up and report quality assurance.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following profile:
  • A university degree in international development cooperation, rural development, environment, economics or related fields;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or interest in the field of international development cooperation. Other sector / thematic expertise is an asset;
  • No prior professional experience is required although it is an asset if in the international development sector or the recruitment sector;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • French and/or Spanish language ability will be an advantage;
  • Excellent attention to detail and capacity to present high quality work;
  • Capacity to develop financial proposals;
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with consultants, clients and partners and to work and liaise with them and senior project staff;
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills;
  • Be comfortable in working in a busy, environment;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects within time constraints;
  • Computer literacy (especially Excel and Word);
  • Previous experience with FWCs will be an advantage;
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK.

Location
The Project Executive will work from the head office of Landell Mills in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, UK. Trowbridge is 12 miles from the World Heritage City of Bath. The office has car parking facilities and is adjacent to the railway station with regular trains to both Bath and Bristol.
