Seismic/Instrument Field Engineer

PGS Operations has an opening for a permanent position as field engineer for Seismic and Electromagnetic discipline in technical resource department.
We are looking for a proactive candidate with a strong desire to contribute in the support and development of seismic operation and particularly Towed Electromagnetic technologies / techniques.
Main tasks
Reporting to a seismic supervisor in Lysaker you will work offshore and onshore and will be involved in all phases of equipment development and operations:
  • Testing of new solutions with our vendors or internal engineering group.
  • Installation and startup of new systems.
  • Support current equipment on site and remotely.
  • Training of operators and update documentation.

Desired Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications:
  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline: instrumentation, electronics, electrical power, however relevant experience will be evaluated as a substitution to formal education.
  • Experience with technical support for electronics instrumentation.
  • Experience of working offshore.
  • Competence with computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage projects and to lead a team.
  • Good in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to identify problems and solutions in a timely manner.
  • Able to communicate ideas and information effectively.
  • Flexible with regards to mobility and work schedule.
Experience in some or all of the following is highly desirable:
  • Seismic or electromagnetic acquisition
  • Operation and maintenance of electrical power systems
  • Linux-based instrumentation software
  • Logistics
