Head of Programmes

In this role you will provide strategic leadership to help WaterAid achieve its objectives and ensure effective implementation of our programme delivery. You will balance development programme expertise with the ability to motivate and mentor your team and implementing partners. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will contribute to setting the direction and professional standards for colleagues. 
The position is based in Abuja but will require regular travel to support our work in states, LGAs and with more than 35 local partner organizations. Occasional travel outside the country will be expected for this role. 
Minimum requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health or Engineering (or other relevant field). You will possess a minimum of 10 years postgraduate experience, 5 of which MUST be at senior management level, providing supportive leadership and mentoring to teams of high skilled professionals in a multicultural setting. You will be a professional able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, with evidence of previous experience applying these to the design and implementation of development projects using NGO methods. You will have experience of work grounded in strategic thinking, planning and execution, and with managing complex/multi-level stakeholder relations to achieve strategic organisational goals. You will have experience managing international donor grant-funded projects and be familiar with grant donor regulations. Previous experience implementing WASH programmes will be a distinct advantage.
