BACKGROUND
EUPATI (www.patientsacademy.eu) is an initiative set up by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), a public private partnership between the European Commission and EFPIA. The patient-led academy, coordinated by the European Patients’ Forum, will develop educational material, training courses and a public Internet library to educate patient representatives and the lay public about all processes involved in medicines development.
EUPATI, patient-driven partnerships called National Liaison Teams (NLTs) and EUPATI National Platforms (ENPs) will be set-up in each of the 12 EUPATI countries (Austria, Francophone Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and UK). Their main objectives include raising awareness of EUPATI and patient involvement in medicines R&D in the respective country, to help patient organisations disseminate EUPATI’s existing training and education material in their countries, to inform the EUPATI project about the educational needs of patients and the lay public on medicines R&D at a national level.
POSITION
Full-time EUPATI National Platform Coordinator to be hired and employed in Dublin by IPPOSI (Irish Platform for Patients’ Organisations, Science and Industry, based in Dublin and belonging to the EUPATI Consortium) for coordinating the day to day activities related to the implementation of EUPATI National Liaison Teams and National Platforms in the 12 countries.
PERIOD:
From March 2014 to March 2016 (with the option to prolong to December 2016).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing day to day support for the national platforms to become established, to develop and to flourish;
- Performing the administrative management of the EUPATI Task Force in charge of the national platforms;
- Supporting the technical preparation, physical compilation, quality control and dissemination of information and material to the national platforms (EUPATI material: logo, terms of reference…);
- Controlling the quality, EUPATI-conform and timely release of information provided to and by national platforms;
- Managing a cohesive, EUPATI-conform approach to all events organized by the national platforms;
- Providing organisational support to the national platforms where necessary;
- Keeping the section for national platforms on www.patientsacademy.eu website updated;
- Supporting the financial management of the national platforms;
- Enabling best practice sharing between the NLTs and ENPs;
- Organising and minuting meetings and teleconferences;
- Keeping an overview of all events organised by national platforms (Events Calendar);
- Checking and answering mails on a daily basis;
- Close collaboration with the Communication Taskforce to ensure consistency of all messaging.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Fluency in spoken and written English (knowledge of other EUPATI languages an advantage e.g. French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian);
- Good Project Management skills;
- Degree or post graduate qualification in an appropriate area;
- At least 5 years proven experience within a similar position and solid knowledge of the EU Patient Advocacy;
- Knowledge and experience of working in an EU environment important;
- Well organised and good attention to detail;
- Able to work in virtual teams with different stakeholders;
- Willing/able to travel;
- Public speaking skills an asset;
- Cultural awareness and diplomacy;
- Excellent time management and respect of key deadlines;
- Strong computer skills, including database management, social media & web-based systems;
- Excellent communication skills and natural networker;
- Good event management skills;
- Good minute taking skills.
SALARY: €50,000
