For our Legal Department at Global Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium we are looking for a Legal Counsel (m/f).

Your Tasks:

Due to the continued growth of WABCO, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a junior commercial/corporate lawyer to join the legal team, based in the global headquarters in Brussels. The role will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and will be key to providing first class legal and commercial advice to business partners across a wide-range of topics. The role will require a candidate capable of working in a truly global environment. Flexibility, intellectual curiosity, a self-starting approach and a desire to learn are all key to success.
The successful candidate will work across a wide variety of areas, including:
  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on contracts and contract related documents in order to obtain business understanding of related opportunities, risks and obligations;
  • Review and draft Model Contract Clauses and other new legal templates/standards;
  • Administration and roll out of legal training programs;
  • Research and updating legal team on applicable regulatory changes and developments, as appropriate;
  • Maintaining corporate secretariat records and liaising with global business colleagues;
  • Supporting the implementation of global compliance programs, such as data protection, privacy and anti-bribery;
  • Due diligence support for mergers and acquisitions;
  • Manage litigation matters and liaise with external counsel.

Your Profile:

This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to provide pragmatic advice in a fast-paced environment.
The role will require knowledge of commercial and corporate law, and proven experience in this area. 

In addition, the ideal candidate will be:
  • A qualified lawyer (a civil law background would be advantageous);
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) and at least one further language;
  • Currently working in a highly-regarded commercial law firm, with a minimum of three years experience;
  • Detail-oriented, articulate and self-confident with good interpersonal, organization and research skills;
  • Able to work effectively and pro-actively in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision;
  • Reliable in meeting target deadlines and able to prioritize/multitask efficiently.
