WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation focused exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation. Established in 2013, WaterAid Japan seeks to engage with and generate support from the Japanese government, the private sector and all those in Japan keen to see a world where everyone, everywhere has safe water and sanitation by 2030.

WaterAid Japan is looking to recruit a Contract Employee. We are interested in hearing from applicants who share our vision and have the passion and ability to contribute to our development. 

Location: WaterAid Japan, Social Incubation Office SUMID 206, 3-15-5 Honjo, Sumida-ku, Tokyo 130-0004 Japan (10 minutes’ walk from Honjoazumabashi station, Toei-Asakusa Line.) 

Employment period: 1 year, including a 3 month trial period. The contract may be renewed or made permanent at the end of the period. 

Working hours: 10:00 - 19:00 

The role will focus on advocacy, fundraising and communications, as well as some of the functional operations of an NGO. This will include: 

-       Planning and implementation of influencing work; coordination with other WaterAid offices; coordination with NGO/CSO networks in Japan.

-       Applying for and reporting on grants.

-       Coordination of the development of WaterAid Japan’s website; planning and implementation of WaterAid Japan’s education program.

-       Varying office-based support work. 

More than 3 years working experience, fluency in Japanese, the ability to carry out the role in English and a proficiency in Microsoft Office are all essential. Experience working in an NGO, the water and sanitation sector in a developing country, or an advocacy role is desirable. 

Start date: Middle of April - May (negotiable)
