How would you like to play an integral part in safeguarding Embassy London’s U.S. diplomatic community? If so, as part of the Regional Security Office’s Residential Security Unit (RSU) you would help advise American Officers and their families on ways to stay safe while living in and around London.
Under the supervision of the Senior Residential Security Coordinator, duties will include: conducting residential security surveys prior to the purchase or lease of Embassy residences; planning recommended security hardware enhancements and installation itineraries for all outside alarm and lock/grille contractors; instructing USG residence occupants and training the Maintenance Section on proper usage of new alarm systems; reporting on status of security posture, assessing possible security hardware weaknesses and identifing necessary security enhancements; developing detailed reports for the Security and General Service Sections on different phases of the Residential Security program as requested; meeting with police crime prevention officers, obtaining comprehensive reports on the crime levels of selected neighborhoods where Embassy/Consulate personnel are resident in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, and elsewhere in the UK; conducting investigations of crimes against Embassy residents and quarters; providing reports to the RSO concerning crime trends and statistics in Embassy/Consulate neighborhoods, and elsewhere in the UK.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION:Four GCSEs, or U.S. High School Diploma or an equivalent academic qualification is required.
EXPERIENCE:Progressively responsible specialized experience and technical know-how in crime prevention, building security and site security surveys is required.
LANGUAGE:Level IV (fluent) in both written and spoken English is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:Comprehensive knowledge of the latest methods of security installations, types of security equipment and regulations of the United Kingdom is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to recognize security hardware and equipment, evaluate surveys, draft in a clear and grammatically correct manner, and operate all security equipment is required. Able to initiate and utilize all specialized resources for individual projects and supervise contractor’s installations is required. A current full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with persons of all walks of life. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.
