General Description: The Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the position of Associate Provost for Animal Research and Resources to creatively plan, administer and evaluate its large and diverse animal care and use program that supports world class science. The search committee seeks to identify candidates with degrees in veterinary medicine with board certification in pathology or laboratory animal medicine. Appreciation of an academic research environment, administrative experience, and evidence of leadership in the management of research animal care and use is necessary. Responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to: establishing a management structure for the operation of university-wide animal services; implementing and maintaining the highest quality animal research, care and use program, in compliance with all applicable guidelines for the care and use of research animals (e.g. AAALAC and The Guide); developing the strategic plan for university-wide animal based research for facilities; personnel and equipment; manage the budgets for Animal Services; planning and submitting NIH Grants to NCRR for support of animal facilities and equipment; manage university-wide animal facilities; providing oversight on all aspects of current animal facilities; and refine the program for the Management/Recruitment/Training of Veterinary Care Technicians.
