Geomechanical Specialist - Maersk Oil, Copenhagen, Denmark

The Geomechanical Specialist will ensure that Danish Subsurface team has access to geomechanical expertise in order to maximise day-to-day operations, leverage rock mechancial information between the Drilling and Subsurface teams as well as integrating new geomechanical knowledge into the drilling and development plans.

Main Responsibilities

· Contribute to drilling programs with wellbore stability assessment, including definition of minimum and maximum mud weights
· Use LOT and drilling experience to define magnitude and direction of minimum horizontal stresses
· Estimate pore pressure and fracture gradients
· Maintain the Mechanical Earth models for the Danish North Sea
· Assist reservoir and production engineers with defining appropriate minimum and maxi-mum values for BHP
· Integrate rock physics data with rock mechanical data in a Mechanical Earth model
· Design, supervise and interpret rock mechanical tests, including defining failure modes
· Assist production team with risking of chalk production
· Assist in predicting reservoir compaction and seafloor subsidence
· Follow chalk related R&D projects such as Joint Chalk Research and JIP on multilateral completions

The candidate will also be integrated into the geomechanical community in our wider Corporate department and will be responsible for ensuring knowledge sharing between different business units is occuring.

The candidate will either fully or partly have, or be willing to acquire the following competencies:

Planning of rock mechanical tests
Failure mechanics and compaction
Knowledge of consti-tutive models and sanding models
Pore pressure prediction/evaluation
Evaluation of magnitude and orientation of regional stresses
