Job Description

PATH has been working in Cambodia since 1995 to support the reconstruction and development of the public health system through partnerships designed to build capacity to improve the health of the Cambodian people.

PATH is seeking a Provincial Coordinator to be based in Battambang to support an ongoing project in which PATH is providing technical assistance to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a an initiative to determine the potential impact of the introduction of a Japanese encephalitis vaccination in Asia.

Under the guidance and direction of the Program Team Leader for Immunization, and in close collaboration with the Japanese Encephalitis Medical Officer from CDC, the Provincial Coordinator will:

  • Provide technical and logistic assistance to surveillance staff for the provincial health department and operational district to promote timely identification, investigation, and reporting of cases of meningoencephalitis (ME);
  • Maintain up-to-date logs containing ME case data;
  • Monitor completeness of ME reporting by hospitals;
  • Participate in supervision visits;
  • Assist with organizing surveillance training;
  • Plan and organize meetings with government officials, hospital staff, non-governmental organizations, and others;
  • Assist with the identification of improvements to project activities.

  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge and/or willingness to learn about disease surveillance.
  • Good written and spoken Khmer and English.
Required Experience

University degree in a health related filed, plus at least three years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with training of health personnel and/or experience in the field of Japanese encephalitis or other vaccine preventable diseases would be an advantage.

This is a local hire position with a starting annual gross salary in the range US$6,600 to US$8,300 (depending on experience) plus competitive benefits.
