Senior Adviser - European Affairs Ofgem

London, £43,600 - £56,650 p.a. (dependent on skills and expertise)
Glasgow, £41,200 - £52,600 p.a. (dependent on skills and expertise)
Based in London SW1 or Glasgow

You will represent Ofgem on issues arising from implementation of the third energy package and assist in processes related to negotiation of new European legislation, including liaison with UK Government and the European Regulators Group. You will also represent Ofgem on issues and activities originating with the Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and prepare briefings for senior staff, (including Lord Mogg in his role as Chair of the European Energy Regulators Group, and the Board of Regulators) on European energy issues. This position will require frequent European travel.

Key requirements

  • experience in briefing and advising senior staff
  • proven experience in European policy
  • good knowledge of the European institutions and policy making
  • excellent organisational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • excellent influencing skills with the ability to represent Ofgem externally
  • excellent written and spoken English
  • degree level education
  • knowledge of the energy industry and regulation; knowledge of, or experience in, institutional building in Europe/European Agencies and good knowledge of another European language is desirable
