Social Media Intern

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Social Media Intern in Washington, DC.
Position Description:
  • More specifically the intern will work closely with the Project Technical staff to:
  • Develop, update, and maintain a photo and video library on the MID-BCC and NMP server drive. This includes naming/tagging photos, videos and illustrations by subject or activity, photographer, and country or region.
  • Assure that current and correct images and videos are on the two websites as appropriate to project activities.
  • Draft blurbs or copy for approval to be used on websites, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media
  • Set up and monitor the Mekong and NMP Twitter and Facebook accounts. This includes writing up a short instruction guide for Project and Country Program staff on the use of Twitter and Facebook and providing updates as received by Project and Country Program staff.
  • Assist with updating the NMP and MID-BCC YouTube site.
  • Posting project photos and illustrations (with captions) on the AI.COMM photo sharing site (Picasa)
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors or equivalent work experience required in Communications or Computer Science or Journalism College Diploma with college courses in communication/PR/journalism or related topics. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimum supervision. Excellent English written and oral communication skills
Spanish-language a bonus. Ability to work in an office environment. Proven computer skills with Microsoft Office, Google, Facebook, website design, other new technologies
