Software Engineer University of Edinburgh

Salary: £30,122 to £35,938 per annum

Your role will be to contribute to services, and projects developing services, that enable and support access to bibliographic and multimedia information via the Internet that form part of the 'virtual library' for staff and students in UK higher and further education.

You will be a graduate in a computing related discipline with at least two years relevant work experience, or equivalent, with significant experience of web application development. Your skills will include an object orientated programming language (e.g. Java), a common database server (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, Solr, Lucene) and a web framework; it would also be desirable to have skills in web services/machine-to-machine interfaces (e.g. SRU, OAI-PMH, Z39.50), media encoders/decoders, Unix or Perl. You should be able to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and good problem solving skills.

This post is fixed-term for two years.
