Chevron's Latin America Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Subsea Well Intervention Engineer located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Overview:
This position supports the deepwater (1200m) development Brazil Frade Project and the Brazil Exploration Program.
Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for both well planning and operational execution activities associated with the completion and intervention of subsea wells and well testing operations on exploration wells.
  • Some support and oversight also provided to Chevron NOJV activities in Brazil.
  • Provide support for subsea blowout protection equipment (SSBOPE) and controls maintenance/inspection for rigs while in assigned fields.
  • Provide support for all project owned intervention equipment.
  • Define the well objectives via a value based well objectives assessment.
  • Develop detailed time and cost estimate, validate with benchmark data.
  • Develop a risk and uncertainty management plan to mitigate the intervention uncertainties.
  • Investigate potential well construction interface issues and develop mitigations.
  • Identify and order any special equipment needs for the well intervention.
  • Supervise contractor staff and mentor/train less experienced intervention personnel.
  • Position is office based however time will be spent in supplier yards locally for testing and integration as well as offshore during execution phases of subsea work.


    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Engineering.
  • Prior experience with subsea engineering is a requirement (Requires at least 3 years overall subsea experience).
  • Demonstrated prior experience in subsea engineering, well testing, time and cost estimation.
  • Candidate must be capable of meeting Brazilain offshore survival and HUET certification.
  • Experience with subsea equipment including subsea test trees, subsea production and injection trees, control systems and other subsea infrastructure for both producer and injector well types.
  • Proficient in development of detailed work programs, testing and maintenance programs for subsea equipment (refurbishment, integration testing, acceptance testing).
  • Proficiency with contractor safety management activities / processes such as Job Safety Analysis, Behavior Based Observation programs, Root Cause Analysis, Stop Work Authority, supplier performance evaluations, etc.
  • Ability to function effectively within very diverse cross fucntional teams and drive performance and innovation.
  • Demonstrated capabilty and desire to support development of early career engineers and interns including mentoring and training.

    Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

    International Considerations:

    Expatriate assignments will be considered.

    Housing is non-compound and there are options in the South Zone (Ipanema, Leblon, Lagoa) or in Barra. Schooling is available from Pre-K through 12. Adequate medical services are available, including some recommended bilingual hospitals and doctors. The climate of the region is tropical, with temperatures from 20ºC to 35ºC (68F to 95F). Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city with many tourist attractions (Sugar Loaf, Corcovado, Ipanema, Copacabana, etc), but it has a high level of street crime. Expats are not allowed to drive, but are assigned a car and a driver.
