Vacancy Details:

The University is looking to recruit a Business Relationship Manager to work closely with senior IT Services staff to coordinate relationships with and between key stakeholders, both during day to day operations and during the design, management and implementation of ICT projects.

The primary focus of the role is that of building and maintaining excellent strategic relationships between the ICT unit and the Schools and Services we serve and our complex supplier networks. To achieve this we need more efficient communication and promotion of the service and service developments through timely and effective marketing.

Excellent advocacy and interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of business change processes and the systems life-cycles are primary requirements, along with a degree or relevant professional qualification and a Project Management qualification. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping deliver new business requirements to agreed timescales. Additional essential qualities will include:

  • An understanding of how IT can help deliver business strategy
  • The necessary skills to ensure effective two way communication and understanding takes place between the Schools and Services and IT Services
  • The ability to act as advocate for the Schools and Services within IT Services, ensuring with the rest of the IT Senior Management team that the business priorities and requirements are heard, understood and acted upon appropriately
  • The ability to also act as advocate for IT Services within the Schools and Services, seeking to identify opportunities where IT Services can take action in support of business objectives, and facilitate the smooth adoption of new technologies by business users
  • Experience of marketing services to internal and external customers, through traditional and Web 2.0 approaches
  • The ability to communicate complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience

Relevant experience within an Information Systems or ICT environment would be an advantage, as would experience of working within a Higher Education environment.
