Senior IT Analyst MRC Clinical Sciences Centre

Salary £30,124 - £40,000 pa inclusive

The Clinical Sciences Centre is an Institute of the Medical Research Council, based at the Hammersmith Campus, with close links to Imperial College, London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The MRC's Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) is a scientific institute with a unique computing environment using Windows, Linux and Macs. Supporting world class scientific research you'll be supporting a team in the delivery of ICT services that enables pioneering science to take place using everything from virtualisation technologies to HPC and large scale storage. If you're a hands-on IT Support Analyst with a passion for personal development and varied computing facilities this is your chance to deliver at the highest level.

Your task will be support and work within a small team of IT Support Analysts within the Centre's Computing Facility. You'll be based at the Clinical Sciences Centre at Hammersmith Hospital, liaising with Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust; stakeholders in the work that takes place at the CSC. The computing infrastructure at the CSC reflect the range and complexity of our stakeholders, you'll be known and welcomed by the Scientific Group Heads in all our sections as well as Imperial College ICT staff.

You'll relish supporting change management; planning and implementing changes to the IT infrastructure, leading and assisting projects and providing support to the team. Our unique infrastructure will expose you to a computing environment that uses large scale storage, HPC, virtualisation technologies and cutting-edge scientific equipment.

You'll be a qualified computing professional with a broad range of experience in IT. You will have in depth knowledge of covering Linux servers being excellent using commands; Windows server and Linux, Windows and Mac desktop support. You will have advanced knowledge in storage technologies and network infrastructure. A distinct advantage would be knowledge in the following areas: EMC, Netapp, NAS, CISCO, VMWARE, SAMBA, NFS and CIFS

It's a role whose remit is big enough and broad enough for real achievements - but only if you're prepared to contribute with excellent communication skills and work sensitively with a wide range of people, many of them experts in their own field.

As to your own expertise and experience, you may be working in the public or private sector feeling constrained by the lack of diverse ICT exposure in your role; this will bring you a real opportunity to contribute to the bigger picture. You'll understand leading and team working as thoroughly as you understand ICT systems.
