Director, Eastern Europe CDP

Carbon Disclosure Project

CDP Europe is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter and well-networked individual to start-up the Eastern European office of the world’s leading climate change charity based out of Poland. This role includes regional responsibility for CDP’s work in Eastern Europe, focused on Poland, Czech Republic and Romania.

Main responsibilities

  • Growing the CDP’s influence and effectiveness in Eastern Europe
  • Leading the establishment of a CDP Poland operation
  • Formulating and executing a funding strategy to enable the above to take place
  • Maintaining and leveraging relationships with current CDP partners, local agents, and sponsors
  • Developing robust strategic new partnerships with government agencies, accounting bodies, data providers, exchanges, leading investors, corporations, foundations and academic institutes
  • Increasing the number of Polish and Eastern European financial institutions that become CDP signatory investors and working closely with these signatories to improve the quality of data reported to CDP
  • Working closely with Polish and Eastern European companies to drive carbon accounting and management high up the corporate agenda
  • Securing CDP public relations opportunities through media outreach and high-level speakers for CDP launch events and workshops.
  • Leading projects in collaboration with Polish and Eastern European government Ministries to improve disclosure by corporations and action on disclosure by investors
  • Proactive engagement with peer NGO’s and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • An entrepreneurial spirit, self-managing and initiative taking personality
  • A clear understanding of the aims, objectives and processes of CDP
  • A passionate desire to drive forward the mission of the Carbon Disclosure Project
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent and proven public speaking skills
  • At least 10 years experience in either the investor, corporate, government or non-profit sectors
  • At least 5 years managerial expertise of people, processes and projects
  • Extensive knowledge of climate change from a business and investor perspective.
  • Sound understanding of global policy action on climate change and how Poland and Eastern Europe fits in with the current efforts towards a global agreement on climate change.
  • In-depth knowledge of Polish and Eastern European policy developments on climate change and their implications for business.
  • Detail-oriented with good research, writing and drafting skills
  • Ability to multi-task and take the initiative at all times.
  • Fluency in Polish and English. Another language relevant to the region would be a plus.

The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director Europe and work closely with the Global Operations and European teams. It is expected that there will be some travel in the region and the candidate must be able to work from home.
