Head of Regulation NATS

NATS - a Public Private Partnership - is the UK’s leading provider of air traffic services, handling just under 2.2 million flights in 2011. Providing en route air traffic control services (economically regulated) from its centres at Swanwick, Hampshire and Prestwick, Ayrshire, NATS controls some of the busiest and most complex airspace in the world. NATS also provides air traffic control from 15 of the UK’s major airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh. NATS is growing its business to become a world leader in the provision of innovative air traffic solutions and airport performance.
You will play a key role in helping to shape NATS’ future success by influencing the development of relevant European and UK regulatory frameworks, with the authority and presence to influence key external and internal stakeholders. You will have direct experience of UK price cap incentive regulation, and ideally also knowledge of European economic regulation as well as competition law and practice. You will also have demonstrated a strategic approach.
As well as representing NATS at a variety of industry meetings, you will advise colleagues and senior executives on the economic and regulatory implications of their business decisions. You will manage a work programme in relation to the Civil Aviation Authority’s price control reviews, as well as licence and wider regulatory matters at both European and UK level. Working with a small team, and specialists across the NATS business, you will also manage economic modelling and analysis.
