Hope Downs 4 is Rio Tinto Iron Ore's latest greenfield mine, with initial pre-strip mining operations to commence in July 2012. Located 30 km north-west of Newman and approximately 40 km south-east of Hope Downs 1, Hope Downs 4 has an estimated mine life of 15 years. Hope Downs 4 includes an open-cut mine and process plant to provide a nominal throughput capacity of 15 (MTPA) of saleable ore product.
Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the primary purpose of the Plant Metallurgist is to provide technical support and leadership for the operations staff at Hope Downs to ensure delivery of the agreed production plan.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to;
· Identify cost saving initiatives through continuous improvement process - Have involvement in one cost saving initiative per assessment period.
· Identify and communicate forthcoming capital & equipment requirements through the mine planning process.
· Provide data and write Capital expense applications
· Project management
· Ensure plant capacity is fully optimized and production targets are met.
· Manage the Screen media and Identify areas for potential cost savings.
· Monitor and report on quality control of product.
· Ensure train load out circuit is fully optimized and production targets are met.
· Preparation of production and cost reports as required
· Daily report writing and monitoring of plant and train load out circuits.
