Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX) has a proven international track record of successful world class discovery across multiple commodities and is actively seeking further discoveries world wide. The work environment covers the full spectrum of geographic areas and time zones. It comprises a wide variety of countries, cultures, language groups, environments and jurisdictions. It requires operation in co-located and virtual teams, in field and city locations, supported by effective collaboration, relationships and engagement.
RTX Australasia currently has a vacancy for a Project Geoscientist, specifically working in our coal program.
Reporting directly to a Senior Project Geoscientist, you will gain exposure to a range of projects across a variety of field locations. The field component of this role is significant, accounting for the majority of your time, typically 2 weeks at a time.
To succeed in this role you will have previous knowledge of mineral deposits and a sound understanding of technical concepts and exploration principles. Ideally you will currently be in a similar role within an exploration team and will have completed tertiary qualifications with honours in the field of geology. Exposure to coal geology, mapping and database software will be an advantage.
