AngloGold Ashanti Limited (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents and a highly successful exploration program. AGA employs over 60,000 people globally. In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in WA and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine, also in WA, in which it has a 70% interest and is manager. Independence Group holds the remaining 30%. Tropicana, which represents the most significant Australian gold discovery for the last decade, is scheduled to begin production in the December quarter of 2013.

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 600 people and produces approximately 350,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are seeking highly capable Project Geologists to be actively involved in surface and underground exploration and all aspects of the geological process at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Tasks will include (but are not limited to):

• Assisting with the collection, receipt and interpretation of drill samples and geological data to ensure that mining and resource modeling requirements are met;
• Performing pit wall, floor and underground mapping as required;
• Performing diamond drill core logging;
• Producing high quality geological interpretations of drill sections and plans; and
• Constructing 3D geological models from drill hole logs and pit and/or underground mapping.

Accountable to the Exploration Manager, the successful applicant/s will:

• Hold a degree in Geology (Honours preferred);
• Have at least 1-3 years experience in an Exploration Geologist role with a demonstrated competence in the management of drill programs, interpretation of results, drill hole logging and mapping;
• Have previous exposure to, and experience/training in, underground operations;
• Have experience with Vulcan, Micromine or Surpac applications; and
• Have a strong technical background with good analytical, planning and prioritising skills combined with an ability to utilise gained knowledge.

Applicants with experience in Archaen gold will be highly regarded.
