Communication Officer CCBE - Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe

The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), which represents over 1,000,000 lawyers through its member Bars and Law Societies, is looking for a Communications Officer to help promote the activities of the CCBE and reinforce cooperation with members.

Profile:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience;
  • University degree or equivalent in journalism, law, communication, political science or social sciences;
  • Ability to work at high level in English and French - given the balance of the team the successful candidate will be working with, fluent English-speakers are especially encouraged to apply. Other European languages are an asset;
  • Outstanding communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Confident using social media;
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and the EU decision-making process desirable;
  • Knowledge of the legal profession desirable.

The postholder will work in a small international team, reporting to the Director, External Liaison; and will be expected to:

  • contribute to the dissemination of CCBE positions and project activities;
  • improve communication towards CCBE members;
  • promote awareness of the CCBE online, including on social media;
  • promote, enrich and contribute to the CCBE website;
  • proofread and edit publications to ensure quality, accuracy and presentation of CCBE documents;
  • draft speeches for the presidency of the CCBE as required.
This is a part-time position (4 days a week) based in the CCBE’s headquarters in Brussels, with occasional international travel. It is a challenging role, calling for team-work, initiative and planning. The position is offered on a two-year fixed term contract (CDD).
