Working within the BBC’s Future Media Division, the Sport Product team are the technical talent behind our world-leading web, mobile and IPTV products and services. In the last 12 months we delivered the word’s first digital Olympics plus a complete refresh of BBC Sport across four screens. And now we’re looking forwards, developing exciting and innovative products that bring the nation together around major events leading up to a 2014 including Winter Olympics, World Cup and Commonwealth Games. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the senior product team driving and delivering that success.

About the role

Connected television is one of the key platforms in BBC Online’s four-screen product strategy. In this vital role, you’ll shape product strategy for BBC Sport on IPTV, and drive development to deliver world class products that audiences love, while reinforcing our place at the forefront of media technology.

You will sit in the sweet spot of audience engagement, industry knowledge, creativity and, crucially, development expertise and experience. You will work with editorial, development and business development teams to define and deliver rich and engaging Sport products that audience love. You will be responsible for the product development across TV screens, including IPTV applications development, but also traditional broadcast red button services, while working closely with teams developing the next generation of Connected Red Button services. Working with business development, you will also be responsible for bringing innovations from the wider industry into the Sport Product set, and forging relationships with delivery partners, device manufacturers and other broadcasters.

About you

At heart, you will be a Product Person – as happy talking to audience research teams as editorial stakeholders, outlining a technical vision to working with partner marketing.

To deliver, you’ll need experience of managing and developing digital media products within the digital TV or online industry. Having worked digital, software development or broadcast sectors before, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of the UK market for digital media products. An understanding you’ll support with knowledge of relevant technologies and platforms. First rate communication skills mean you’ll have no problem relaying concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels. While your credibility and gravitas mean you’ll have real influence over important business decisions. Add a true interest in Sport, and you could be ideal for this role.
