Organizational Setting |
The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) is the major delivery mechanism of technical assistance and technology transfer to developing Member States and strives to increasingly promote tangible socio-economic impact by contributing directly in a cost-effective manner to the achievement of the major sustainable development priorities of each country. Within the Department, the Division of Programme Support and Coordination is responsible for the efficient and transparent management and implementation of the programme cycle. The Finance and Information Management Section provides programme cycle support; Technical Cooperation Fund Financial Management and reporting; information and data management including implementation statistics and analysis for the Department; monitoring of conformity to standardized implementation processes; UN organization's procurement for TC projects; IT systems and specialized platforms development and maintenance, and IT service assistance for the Department. The Information Technology Unit provides help desk services for general desktop and laptop applications as well as help assistance to internal and external customers with TC specialized implementing and reporting applications of TCPRIDE, TCPRIME, PCMF (the IT platform) and InTouch. These specialized applications are developed, maintained and updated within the Unit. The Unit supports training events and demonstrations of TC specific applications to a wide audience including secretariat staff and more than 3000 counterparts form Member States. The IT Systems Engineer is a key member of a team of 10 professional and support staff focused on solving IT technical problems for the Department and channelling application specific informational requests to the appropriate software developer for resolution. The position reports to the Unit Head for Information Technology. |
Main purpose |
Reporting to the IT Unit Head, the IT Systems Engineer will provides efficient support to customers in the utilization of TC information systems resources. He/she ensures that the issues reported are logged and addressed in a timely and customer friendly manner. The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the first line queries related to regular maintenance of desktop systems, peripherals such as digital projectors, audio-visual equipment, printers and photocopiers and TC specific software application tools used for the implementation of the TC programme. |
Role |
The TC IT Systems Engineer is (a) a solution provider, troubleshooting and fixing technical issues on desktop environments, and (b) a team member and (c) a system administrator, investigating problems and providing resolutions, workarounds and recommendations for problems assigned or identified in the course of his/her work. |
Partnerships |
The IT systems Engineer communicates with customers across staff in the TC department and the IT Service Desk at Headquarters to provide IT support. He/she keeps constant communication with the Unit Head of the TC IT Unit and its team members to coordinate related activities. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $46 730 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $29 393*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave,pension plan and health insurance.
