Energy marketing activities involve the purchase, transportation, storage and sales of energy commodities in competitive markets with multiple supply and market options. To ensure that the Group maximises value through our worldwide energy marketing and shipping activities, we have consolidated the trading and marketing activities from around the Group into one team, supported by an Energy Marketing Function that will develop, maintain and support the implementation of standards and guidelines for energy marketing activities. BG Group’s Gas and Energy Marketing and Shipping (GEMS) group promotes transparency and managerial focus on energy marketing and shipping activities, resulting in higher standards of risk control. We drive functional excellence on a global level to create a BG Way for energy marketing activities, as well as train and deploy energy marketing and shipping staff globally.

Position Summary Japan is BG Group’s largest market for LNG with considerable growth potential. Due to this growth potential BG Group now requires its own representative office and staff within Japan. This position is responsible for working with other BG Group offices to identify business opportunities with each Japanese end-user in Japan, strengthen BG Groups relationships, and provide credible and interpreted market intelligence.   This position shall report to the General Manager & Vice President – BG Japan.

Key Accountabilities Support development of LNG trading and marketing activities in Japan. Support management of BG Group’s existing customer relationships and expanding BG Group’s customer base with appropriate levels of Japanese buyers. Strengthen BG Group’s strategic relationships with Japanese buyers. Work with GM & VP Japan Office, Managers of LNG Marketing, and Managers of Trading to strategically identify and plan short, medium and long term cargo sales. Provide recommendations on strategic positions to the organisation by collecting, analysing and disseminating LNG market information. Support other BG Group activities in Japan such as oil marketing and securing financing. Support BG Group’s LNG shipping operation related activities in Japan, including, but not limited to ship-shore compatibility. Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute Experience needed: Degree in Technical, Commercial or Financial related field required. Knowledge, skills and attributes required: Strong knowledge of the global LNG business and gas markets. Extensive relationships with Japanese LNG buyers. Able to build up specialist knowledge of LNG contracts and risk management. Networking and relationship building. Commercial / Negotiation. Fluent in English and Japanese. Position requires activities as a good team member, good communication, self-motivation, and confidence. Special features: Travel within Japan and globally as needed. Occasional irregular working hours due to communications between BG Group global offices.
