Project Controls Specialist AngloGold Ashanti

AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents.   AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%.  The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.

Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade.  The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project).  Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.

We are now seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to join ourTropicana Construction Team.

Accountable to the Project Services Manager, this role is a client role that will see you working closely with the EPCM contractor. This role is primarily Perth based role with site travel required when needed.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Participating in EPCM and contractor meetings and reporting anomalies and outcomes to the owners teamCross-examine and challenge project master schedule to ensure key delivery milestones are not at risk
• Working with Construction Supervisors to understand construction logic and delivery time frames are being managed in line with management's expectations
• Provide inputs as required to with weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Controls Specialist with strong planning construction background
• Major construction project experience with projects in excess of $500 million in value
• The ability to work closely with the EPCM contractor
• Strong experience to Primavera version 7 and competency with MS Office particularly Excel
• Permanent Australian work rights
