Solutions Architect redIT. - Greater San Diego Area


The primary objective of the Solutions Architect role is to support redIT’s sales team in correctly positioning redIT’s services via the discovery, validation, and mapping of client requirements to redIT’s existing services portfolio.
The solutions architect will be responsible for discovering and documenting client requirements and mapping these requirements into a customer-facing documents. 
As part of this effort, the solutions architect will be required to understand the client’s:
  • Key business Issues
  • Current infrastructure environment 
  • Financial/ROI objectives
  • Regulatoty objectives
  • Security objectives
  • Availability objectives
The solutions architect’s ability to accurately understand a client’s environment is a key determinant to the success of this position. 

The solutions architect will work closely with redIT’s sales team to support the following activities:

  • Service training
  • Pre-sales engineering & discovery
  • Participation in client-facing meetings
  • Participation in marketing activities

The solutions architect will also work closely with redIT’s operations team, specifically the implementation team, to support the successful transfer of new client projects from pre-sales/sales to the implementations team.
As a member of the services team, the solutions architect will also be involved with the evaluation of new services and how these services would address existing and future client requirements.

Desired Skills & Experience

The solutions architect will have 5-7 years documented experience in pre-sales engineering in a managed-services environment.  The position requires broad-based, hands-on experience with IT service management and knowledge of system administration best practices across multiple layers including:

  • Operating systems (e.g. Windows & Linux)
  • Hypervisors (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V & Xen)
  • Storage networks and associated protocols (e.g. SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
  • IP networks and associated protocols
  • Backup and data protection (e.g. estimating backup volumes, reviewing backup policies and retention requirements, etc.)
  • Cloud computing & orchestration technologies (e.g. vCloud Director, OpenStack, etc.)
  • Security Services (e.g. firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scans, etc.)

The solutions architect will be expected to:

  • Support the sales team with client requirements and discovery activities
  • Draft and update each Statement of Work (SOWs) to reflect client requirements
  • Gather competitive detail  
  • Analyze service and technological trends

Other considerations:

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
  • Travel time up to 20%
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience

Certifications: 

  • ITIL Foundation (preferred)
  • VCP (preferred)
  • MCITP (preferred)
  • CISSP (preferred)
